Our standards
Local Garden Journal aims to be careful, independent, and clear about what each piece can and cannot establish. Our writing is intended to inform and invite observation, not to pass off opinion as fact.
Accuracy and sources
We check factual statements against suitable sources and take care with dates, names, and descriptions. Where a detail is uncertain or interpretations differ, we say so rather than making the story sound more settled than it is. We do not claim to have conducted research or testing that we have not done.
Independence and labelling
Editorial decisions are made with readers in mind. Payment or another material relationship does not purchase a favourable editorial judgement. Sponsored work and partner material are labelled clearly so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial coverage.
Corrections
When a factual error is brought to our attention, we review it and make a correction when warranted. Readers can use the Contact page to identify the article and detail in question. We aim to make meaningful changes clear in the article.
Illustrations
Some illustrations may be generated with artificial intelligence. Where they appear, they are illustrative rather than documentary and should not be treated as evidence of a real garden, plant, or event.
A garden rewards a second look
We believe that noticing a garden closely is its own pleasure. There is always another line, leaf, or old idea to discover.
